Do you create a database or keep any information on file?
Absolutely not! To ensure the highest security for each and every child's information, we designed and pioneered NDB2™ Technology, which is a patent-pending process that prevents a database from being created or stored. This privacy feature is recommended by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC.org). With our fail-safe NDB2™ Technology, we guarantee that you will be in complete control of your child's information, and the only one to receive it.

Do you take my child's information offsite for processing?
Our patent-pending program automates the entire ID process - and we never take anything offsite for processing. It only takes about two minutes for each child, and the completed CD and Photo ID Card are available to take with you immediately.

Other child ID companies claim no database. How can I tell if that's true?
When they say 'no database' what they really mean is they intend to delete it when they are finished. You can be certain if they take anything offsite to process and return later with the completed ID's, there is a database you must not only trust them to delete, but also safeguard while it is in their possession. Our solution was to just not create a database in the first place.

What’s so bad about a database?
Criminals and child predators use photos and information to research victims. A lost, stolen or online database can make your child vulnerable to these criminals. Other child ID companies are creating databases every day on easily lost or stolen laptop computers, and online companies are creating databases where unknown operators have complete access. Many of these databases include your child's fingerprints, the name and location of the school your child attends and even your home address! The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC.org) cautions against any type of database for these very reasons.

Should I carry the DIGIKIDS® CD with me at all times?
Yes. The first 20 minutes are the most critical in a missing child emergency. You can be prepared to act immediately by keeping the DIGIKIDS® CD with you (or anyone that your child is with) at all times. If you have a cell phone that can receive email (Smartphone) we suggest that you also send an emergency email to yourself that you can also immediately forward right from the phone.

How does the small CD work?
The DIGIKIDS® CD runs automatically in Windows® compatible PC's with no installation or email program needed - the easy-to-use Quick Response™ Software runs right from the CD! In a missing child emergency, you can use any PC, anywhere - in the mall, retail businesses, hospitals, any FedEx Kinko's - even laptops found in most patrol cars. You can even send to or from a mobile Smartphone! See CD & Support FAQs for more about the DIGIKIDS® CD and Quick Response™ Software.

Do I need to log on to your website to retrieve my child's photos and information?
Not at all! With DIGIKIDS® you don't need to remember passwords, login anywhere or trust anyone to safeguard your child's sensitive identifying information. You are in complete control by having your child's photos, identifying and medical information with you at all times, ready to act immediately. Also, keep in mind that with web-based services there are time limits and other restrictions on your ability to access your child's information.

Do fingerprints or DNA help in the search for my missing child?
Fingerprints and especially DNA can help solve an old or cold case when a child is never found or found deceased, but it would be extremely rare to actually locate a missing child using fingerprints or DNA alone. Think of it this way: Photos and physical descriptions help find missing children. Fingerprints and DNA are forensic tools that help identify children already found. When you are trying to find your child, the most important thing is to immediately get quality, up to date photos and physical descriptions to authorities and in front of the public, and that is the main focus of the DIGIKIDS® CD.

Should I keep fingerprints or DNA of my child?
Authorities ask that you keep both fingerprints and DNA in a safe place at home in the event a forensic identification needs to be made. We include our Be Prepared™ Home Fingerprint & DNA Kit with the DIGIKIDS® Child ID Kit at no charge for this purpose.

How many children are reported lost or missing each day?
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's NISMART 2 report released in October 2002, there are over 800,000 missing children reported each year in the United States, which is almost 2,200 reports each day - or about two missing children reported every minute of every day, 365 days each year.

Can I depend on the Amber Alert System to find my missing child?
Police use strict criteria before issuing an Amber Alert. Unless it is an actual 'stranger abduction', there most likely won’t be an Amber Alert issued to help find your missing child. Sheriff Dee Anderson, who co-founded the Amber Alert program in Tarrant County Texas, reminds parents that "It has not ever been meant for missing children, lost children or child custody cases."

How often should I update my child's information?
The NCMEC (NCMEC.org) recommends updating your child's photos and physical descriptions every six months for children 6 years of age or younger and then once a year, or when your child's appearance changes. There is an 'Update Due' date on the bottom of the Photo ID Card you can use as a guide, and we usually return to schools and preschools on a regular schedule.

Is there an agency that issues guidelines for child ID?
Yes. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC)  was created in 1984 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization to provide services for families and professionals in the prevention of abducted, endangered, and sexually exploited children. NCMEC is mandated by Congress and works in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. DIGIKIDS® is proud to be the only child ID company that strictly adheres to the guidelines issued by the NCMEC. Learn more about the NCMEC's child ID guidelines and best practices at www.ncmec.org.
